AstraZeneca today announced that it has reached a $11 billion settlement with Pfizer over claims it had failed to adequately disclose about the company’s anti-ulcer drug Prilosec and related drugs. Under the terms of the settlement, AstraZeneca agreed to pay Pfizer $1.5 billion to resolve all allegations of improper disclosure. The settlement was announced on July 1, 2014.

Pharmacy prices for Nexium and Zantac have been increasing at a steady rate in recent years. The prices of some drugs have come down significantly.

The FDA also said that the drugs that are sold in stores and on prescription are the most common brand names. For Nexium and Zantac, the average retail price is $30.04 and $9.99, respectively, while the average retail price for Prilosec is $15.59 and $8.74, respectively. The average retail price for the drugs in the three categories are $20.03 and $11.02, respectively.
The prices of some of the drugs in these categories have also increased.
